Sport

There are very few sports that cannot be done in and around Villalba. In the following we describe the opportunities we know.

HIKING, JOGGING & RUNNING

There are numerous walks/runs in the surrounding area. Here are just a few suggestions:
1. Walk / run to Nemi and back
2. Go down to the Nemi Lake
3. Go / run to Genzano
4. Go / run to Nemi and around the Lake on the Volcano top (see the signs).

SWIMMING

We have a beautiful pool in the yard for those who like water. The pool has a great view over the Nemi Lake. You can also go swimming in the Nemi Lake or the Albano Lake, which is not far away from the house. The nearest beach is called Torvaianica it is about 30 minutes away from the house. About one hour drive from Villalba you will find one of Europe’s best beaches called Circeo.

SKIING

In the winter it is actually possible to ski in about 1.5 hours from Villalba. You can reach the place by car - the place is called Abruzzo. More information can be found here:
www.campofelice.it.

TENNIS

You can play tennis in Genzano and Ariccia. In Genzano you have to contact Campo Sportivo, located in the center of the town. In Ariccia you drive from Villalba to Genzano and then to Ariccia. When you enter Arricia you will find tennis courts on the right side.

CANOEING & KAYAKING

Canoes and kayaks can be rented by the Albano Lake.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Mountain biking is ideal in the Castelli Romani area. The area goes all the way up to 850 meters (Monte Cavo). You can find a map in the house of Castelli Romani with routes for mountain biking. There are mountain bikes available in Villalba. Both asphalt roads and gravel paths inside the forest are possible. We will update this page with good routes later. Until then there is also a good source of inspiration on the following links:

MOTORBIKE

Scooters, motorcycles etc. can be rented various places in Rome. There are so many places, but as an example:
www.trenoescooter.191.it.

GOLF

There are many golf clubs within driving distance from Villalba. The best is located in Castel Gandolfo: www.countryclubcastelgandolfo.com

ROAD CYCLING

Castelli Romani are widely used for road cycling and on Sundays you will see many local Romans cycling in the area. See the map (located in the house) over Castelli Romani for good tours.

HORSE RIDING

You can ride horses at riding schools in Rocca di Papa. Closest to the house is the riding club in Pratoni del Vivaro. When you enter Nemi drive up the Via dei Laghi road and turn right on Via dei Laghi. Turn left soon after onto Via Vivaaro. The riding school comes on your left after about 2 km.
